We are our own monsters. To know oneself is to take on the darkness that resides within. Cradle the tenderest of wounds until they are fully understood. A self-portrait of my demon and I in a moment of unity.
 
 The narrative between us is, “I used to be afraid of the dark.” they murmur back, “I used to fear I would never be understood.”
